Mountain biking is a great fitness activity that lets you explore nature and meet people. Step Ahead runs a mountain biking activity usually at least once a month.
Mountain biking is a great way to get fit and to get out and about for some fresh air. Anyone with a basic level of fitness can come along.

We may visit local mountain bike tracks such as McLean’s Island and Bottle Lake Forest or we go urban biking.

This is an easier ride and is suitable for those who do not wish to ride off-road. With a wide range of new cycleways in Christchurch, there are plenty of safe places to ride, so this is a great place to start if it’s been a while since you’ve ridden a bike.

On a less regular basis, we run a mountain bike activity as part of our Rangiora programme, which usually caters for a gentler ride. Keep an eye on the programme if you are keen on taking part.

You do not need your own bike to join in as we can hire one for you for a small cost. We also provide helmets and visual safety vests for those taking part.
