  1. Cricket in the Park

    Thursday 30th November – 1pm Is fresh air, fun and light exercise your thing? Come along and try a light hearted game of cricket at Beverley Park next to Step Ahead in Stanmore Road. No experience necessary. Enjoy a cuppa afterwards.

  2. Golf

    A group of golfers have been sampling a number of the Canterbury courses over the past year. The weather is now getting warmer, and we will be continuing to hit the greens fortnightly on a Thursday afternoon. Golf is great way to get some exercise and to blow away the cobwebs. Come along and enjoy.

  3. Guest Speaker at Stanmore Road – Cancer Society

    Jenny from the Cancer Society will be coming to talk to us after Budget Lunch on Thursday the 14th of September 2017 at 1:30 pm.   4. Bike Maintenance

    A bike maintenance afternoon will be held on Wednesday 20th September 2017. Do you have a bike that needs some minor repairs such as punctures, adjusting of brakes and gear changers? Don’t expect miracles but hopefully we can help you get back on the road. Chris

  6. Walking Group

    Take these walks at your own pace. They cater to all abilities where possible. The walks usually last between 40 to 50 minutes followed by a hot drink and a chat.   7. Dietitian at Stanmore Road

    On the last Wednesday each  month at 1:15 Lucy Carey, a Dietitian from Pegasus Health, visits. Amongst other things Lucy organises Appetite for Life programmes that some members have attended.   9. Community Public Health Guest Speaker

    Thursday 20th July 2017 at 1:30pm, Stanmore Road.  Meg Christie will come and talk to us about ways to stay well and promote healthy living especially over winter time. Meg is an avid cyclist and has spoken to us before. Come along for an interesting afternoon. See you there.

    We have a volunteer Angela, who is running a fortnightly Meditation Group starting on Friday 7th July 2017 at 11am. Angela has been practising regular daily meditation for about three years.   11. Would you like to Stop Smoking?

    If you want support to cut back or quit, talk to staff. Anna has completed some training with Quitline and is a registered Quitcard Provider, able to provide support. Nicotine patches, gum and lozenges are also available

  12. 100 Km Challenge

  13. Exercise in the Park, Softball and Cricket

    There are two new outdoor exercise activity options programmed at both Stanmore Road and West over the last few months. Fortnightly exercise in the park on Friday afternoon and the first Thursday of the month either playing softball or cricket.   14. Exercise in the Park – West

    Due to lots of interest, we are starting our own circuit training opportunity at a local park. Friday the 7th and 21st of November 2016 at 1pm (Stanmore will join us at 1:30pm). Exercises will be designed with very little equipment and in a way that you can do all exercises at your level of ability.   15. Clip and Climb – West

    On Friday the 14th of November 2016 at 1pm there is a trip to Clip and Climb – a purpose built climbing wall centre. Anyone can safely climb higher than they thought possible! ($5.00)

  16. Healthy Cooking / Healthy Lifestyle

    Education and information sessions, tips for buying wisely, supermarket trips as well as cooking and recipes. A dietitian visits Stanmore Road monthly giving advice and support.   17. Gym & Weights

    Both Stanmore and West attend community gyms or fitness groups.

  18. Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis

    Recreational groups are scheduled regularly at Stanmore Road and West.

  19. Tai Chi

    Weekly tuition provided by an experienced tutor at West. All welcome.

  20. Swimming

    Stanmore and West have regular groups attending Pioneer and occasionally Jellie Park pools. Rural has regular swimming at Dudley Pool in Rangiora, and at E A Networks Pool in Ashburton. Relax in the saunas and spas, have fun in the wave pool, or exercise with aqua jogging or by swimming some laps.

  21. Mountain Biking

    Use your own bike or hire one of ours. We ride off and on road. No experience necessary and great fun.

  22. 10 Pin Bowling

    If you’ve bowled before here’s an opportunity to get back into it or to have a go at something new.
